How to support local artisans.
Few people know that in Venice the art of ceramics has been developed along with the making of glass and mosaics. The history of this art tells a lot about everyday life, customs, and trading in a city of merchants between East and West.
The potteries shown in this photo are potteries handmade in Venice by Daniela Levera. Daniela is a young ceramic designer and crafter born in Brasil, grown in Chile and based in Venice since 2008.
You can find her shop ADL Ceramics in Fondamenta S. Ana 998, Castello district.
Daniela organizes also 2hr or 3hr pottery workshops at her beautiful atelier in Campo S. Pietro di Castello.
Castello is one of the liveliest area in Venice. Most Venetians live here and in Cannaregio district. If you are thinking to stay in this area next time you will visit Venice, give a look at our apartment Bianco 4 (click to view).
