WHERE TO EAT A GOOD TIRAMISU IN VENICE

Mar 28, 2019 | Food, Things to do

Tiramisù is probably the most popular Italian dessert. In this post we will share with you infromation about is and one of our favourite places.

ITS DISPUTED ORIGIN
Savoiardi bisquits, eggs, marcarpone cheese, coffee, bitter cacao powder. We all know the ingredients of this fantastic treat.
What is not easy to know is the origin of its recipe: which region should get credit for inventing it is still a matter of dispute.
Does is come from Veneto or Friuli Venezia Giulia? The two Italian regions have been fighting over its paternity for decades.
A GOOD TIRAMISU IN VENICE
There is a special place in the centre of the city where you can not only taste a magnificent Tiramisù, but also see how it is prepared. This because every hour it is made fresh under your eyes in the window of a shop named ‘I Tre Mercanti‘ located in Campo della Guerra, at a 3 minute walk from St. Mark’s Square.
NOT JUST A PASTRY SHOP
If you happen to visit this shop you will discover that ‘I Tre Mercanti’ is not just a pastry shop, where you can taste Tiramisù in its traditional coffee recipe and in many other innovative versions, but also a gourmet shop where you can find a great selection of Italian vines and culinary excellences.
